I am determining title options for my upcoming mystery novel. Which book would you rather read?
33 Responses to Option A
I voted based on how appealing the names were to me compared to the others and which ones I would click on in the real world.
Option A really draws you in, to the point about a mystery theme, whereas Option B feels a little too non-descriptive.
I am more intrigued about why there is blood on his hands because it seems more mysterious than some girl
This one really makes me anxious in a good way, like I'm anticipating the thrill of the mystery.
I like option A the best because the title is more intriguing.
I think that A is better because it sounds like more of a mystery than the option B
A's title sounds more interesting to me. It makes me think of murder intrigue. B's title is okay, if a little boring.
Option A sounds cooler and more interesting in my opinion. It sounds mysterious and makes me want to know more.
I definitely think the title "blood on his hands" jumps out a lot more than option B does which does not give me that same level of excitement.
Blood on His Hands is much more eye catching to me, I'm not really a fan of the word hearth.
I like the title "Blood on His Hands". It comes across as mysterious, thrilling, and ominous. I would think that this would be a very exhilarating read with lots of twists.
This sounds like there will be more action and more killing which I like in the mystery novels that I read. It also makes me want to know who has the blood on their hands
I thought A could be a story about personal guilt and drama. Option B I thought the girl probably got murdered or something.
I don';t know what either of these books are about at the onset, but the title in choice A sounds way cooler and way more metal and dark than the one in B.
Blood on his hands just makes me want to know more
A, sounds more mystery like to me, Blood on his hands very thriller - mystery
This sounds more fun and a good read. I would like this one for sure. The blood gets your attention and sounds cool. I like vampires and love the movie twilight so this one is definitely for me. Thank you.
Sounds very mysterious interesting
Option A catches my attention and makes me want to know what happened and why it happened. The other option is not bad, but it does not draw me in as much as the other option
Choice A is the one that I would rather read because it seems a lot more interesting and intriguing to me. Why does he have blood on his hands? Whose blood is it? How did it happen? It makes me ask questions when I read it.
A I feel is a lot more interesting as is stands out much more, and the reason why I chose it over B.
Blood on his hands sounds like something that would be interesting and thrilling to read
A sounds more mysterious and indicates the book is a mystery novel. Girl on the Hearth is vague and could be any genre.
"the girl on the ____" is so commonly used and overtitled at this point to where it won't stand out among the existing ones
I think that A is more aggressive sounding which adds more suspense and intrigue to it.
I want to know what the man did wrong and how severe it is.
I like option A more because I think the title is more exciting and draws my attention in better.
I pick option A because title B is too vague and not intriguing enough.
I like choice A more because there is suspense in the title already and it makes me curious to know more.
i think blood on his hands would be a more interesting title for a mystery novel to read
I think the title of option A sounds better in my opinion.
Seems more powerful and interesting
Blood on His Hands sounds a bit more dark and mysterious - it makes me more curious as to what went down.

I like that tile.
B sounds more mysterious in general.
Girl on the Hearth just seems more intriguing and evocative to me.
This is the better of the two options but I would caution falling into the "The girl...." book trap that has happened since A girl on a train came out.
Not a fan of blood and gore so going with the option without blood in it.
B sounds more mysterious and intriguing.
The title in Choice B is a more intriguing and memorable option compared to the counterpart. It is probably the one I would be more interested to know about compared to A, which is an incredibly stock phrase and title in that genre.
I rather read Option B. It's a better name for a mystery novel, than Option A. Option A sounds like a horror film / book. If you want to reach mass audiences I would choose Option B.
Blood on his hands sounds like an ID network show.
I think this sounds more mysterious and makes me interested in knowing who the girl is and why she is important.
This option sounds a bit less gruesome. A sounds like a cold blooded murder which is too scary.
I like B because it sounds more intriguing to me than A. It gets my attention first.
B had a better sound to it. The design of it was really great and cool.
The title is a little more nebulous than A which would inspire some curiosity
I think that The Girl on the Hearth sounds more unique and interesting than Blood on His Hands, which has some really cool alliteration but is definitely a phrase one hears fairly commonly.
I like option B, it's mysterious and interesting. Option A sounds like it would be too on the nose title wise.
Both are nice, but the less murdery title sounds more mysterious.
