Which book would you be drawn to purchase for your 8-12 yr old child?

19 Responses to Option A
Way more colorful and enticing
I like this better more colorful
I like that it is a lot more colorful and has more interesting graphics.
A has brighter colors and would probably appeal more to my children.
I would choose A because it is more colorful and my child would grab it first.
I picked A because the colors seem to attract smaller kids and B would attract teenagers or young adult readers as for the colors. The font on A is more trival too.
The more colorful cover helps it pop
Damian, his sister and his Catholic mum move in with her sinister new boyfriend while his Protestant dad shacks up with the glamorous Mary the Canary. Divided by sectarian suspicion, the community is held together by the sprawling Ravenscraig Steelworks. But darkness threatens as Maggie takes hold: she snatches school milk, smashes the unions and makes greed good. Following Maggie's advice, Damian works hard and plans his escape. He discovers that stories can save your life and - in spite of violence, strikes, AIDS and Clause 28 - manages to fall in love dancing to Madonna in Glasgow's only gay club.
I would say one that is more on the colorful side.
I think kids would be more attracted to the more colorful cover.
I love the bold and bright colors.
I really like them both, but it i had to choose I would choose A because the colors are more vibrant.
I like the variety of the colors
I love the more colorful cover.
I prefer seeing the color. Its more appealing.
Option A has very vibrant colors that would make the book feel like less of a schoolbook and more like a book to read for fun. It also looks like a nice sunset scene, and contrasts the blue of the characters on the front cover very well.
Color looks more appropriate to age and level
I chose option A since the cover is more vibrant and colorful. Both options are visually appealing though.
The colors are brighter and catch the eye faster than b

B looks more whimsical overall. The mix of particle effects and lettering make it stand out a lot more.
B looks more magical to me the color stands out more too
the colors are more stand out
I like choice B as it seems more star like and encompasses more than just outdoors, like something bigger.
it is more colorful and eye catching
I like how the text stands out on this one.
This book design gives the book a spirit of whimsy and real magic. I love it.
This picture stands out for me
My 8 to 12 year old would like the coloring and the fact that it looks more realistic
B is more streamlined.
I simply think the design is softer, prettier, more sophisticated, and more fitting with the title.
A has too many colors on the book. B is simple, nice and classic.
Looks more mature. My child would not read something that looks like it's for a younger kid.
I like the more muted colors of option B better than the bright colors in A
It seems more child appropriate with the right lettering and colors.
I prefer the cover design and the blue / purple color scheme of this option.
I like seeing just the book cover
I chose B, because I prefer the more subdued color scheme on that cover.
It seems more magical and the children appear to being reaching for and touching the stars. It really shows the ability to to have those dreams come true
I like the font and coloring of Option B, its not so in your face bright
I like choice B, because the children reaching up, look real to me, where the others is too bright and looks fake.
I have all boys, and I think the cover art that looks more mystical and less rainbow-y would appeal to them more, and thus make me more likely to consider it.
It is simpler and showcases the book better rather than look like an ad
I believe that Book Cover B would be more appealing, because of the sparkly cover and the pastel colors.
8-12 year olds don't read cursive, and the font on option A seems more like cursive so I would think it was too old for them. Also, it looks too abstract. I think they would be drawn more to the kids on Option B.
the colors are simply more attractive to me.
the colors just seem more appropriate for a child.
The cover of choice B is more engaging. I really think the cover looks more exciting.
simpler, better color scheme for reading the text
"A" looks too busy
I prefer the Title font better in B, the image also seems more "magical" to me.
