My holiday traditions is to cook dinner and invite family over to exchange gifts and speak on our blessings from the year.
We have a family meal - usually cook a duck or a goose rather than a turkey. We don't really make a big deal out of the holidays. There are no gifts and no cards.
well, on thanksgiving i have a family reunion. For Christmas I buy a tree and hang lights
We normally visit my in-laws to celebrate on Christmas Eve afternoon then drive home to spend the night at home where we put out presents for my kids after they go to bed. Then we spend Christmas Day either celebrating at home or at my mom's across town where we cook a Christmas meal for our lunch after unwrapping gifts with our kids. This year we're staying home and dropping off groceries for my mom to keep more socially distanced and try to avoid spreading COVID-19.
We always have our family xmas on xmas eve and we go on a walk to our downtown to look at the large tree there. We never skip this although we are this year
I always participate in a family secret Santa exchange and also participate in a White Elephant swap at work. I bake cookies with my sister on Christmas Eve and we bake an egg casserole dish on Christmas morning.
My holiday traditions are the usual catholic Christmas affairs. Decorate the house with a tree, garland and other decorations. Open gifts on Christmas Morning with a large family dinner in the evening. And watching as many different Holiday specials as I can during the month of December.
In non-COVID times, I always visit my friends in Germany between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We visit the Christmas markets and drink Gluhwein. On the Saturday evening of my visit, we have a big dinner at one of the local restaurants with friends from all over Europe. The following morning, we sleep in then get together for a farewell brunch.
Usually we gather as a family for dinner and play board games with everyone there. On christmas eve we make cookies and leave out carrots for the reindeer and we watch a christmas movie while following the santa tracker
We have a big Christmas breakfast and then play board games.
FAMILY GATHERING AND FOOD
Christmas eve we open one gift together and have a drink
Every christmas we decorate both inside and outside of our home. We bake christmas cookies and leave cookies and carrots out for santa and the reindeer. We try to visit as many outdoor light displays as possible!
Every year my wife and I spend Christmas Eve at my parents and in the morning we open gifts with my close family like my parents and sisters. Later on in the day my entire family, including aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc., gets together and we do a gift exchange and then eat and play games. On Christmas Day my wife and I go to my in-laws and we open presents with my wife's family. My wife and her sister always make tamales with her grandparents and then we eat with the entire family.
Get together with immediate family, have a big meal, sit and talk for a while.
Get together with my son and have a meat feast. Usually a table full of different meats like ham, chicken, beef cooked in various ways. Some different cheeses and drink hot tea and coffee. We never exchange presents, cards or have a tree. Never any decorations other than maybe a few candles. Very small and make no big deal out of it. The dog is there too, he gets a beef bone to keep him occupied. Sometimes we watch a movie after eating.
We always cook turkey for Christmas dinner; we open gifts from the grandparents on Christmas Eve; wear matching PJs for Christmas morning
For the holidays I typically go visit my family and have a big meal with everyone.
For Hanukkah I get together with my family. We light the menorah, eat potato latkes, exchange gifts and spin a driedle. It's a lovely time and one my entire family enjoys.
Normally for Thanksgiving my parents make a big turkey dinner and my husband and I bring a side dish and the family gets together for dinner at my parents' house. For Christmas, usually my husband, daughter, brother and I go out to dinner with my parents on Christmas Eve and then exchange gifts at my parents' house afterwards. On Christmas Day my husband and I make a big dinner for our family and either have everyone over to dinner at our place or bring everything over to my parents' house, and we have dinner with our daughter, my parents, and my husband's cousin. Sometime during the week before or after Christmas my husband, daughter, and I go for a drive to look at people's Christmas lights. For New Years we don't usually do much special, usually my husband, daughter and I go out to dinner New Years Eve and go to the beach New Years day if the weather permits.
Holiday traditions include going home to be with family (mom, dad, and sister). We always have a few fun activities leading up to Christmas day including ice skating, going out to eat and get drinks, and attend an NBA game. On Christmas Eve we go to mass and go over to my Aunt's house for a larger family party. We exchange gifts. Christmas morning we wake up and open presents from "Santa". We typically have surf and turf for dinner.
Lots of outside light decorations, putting up a Christmas tree, backing cookies, gift wrapping presents, lots of holiday decor.
I don't have any since all of my family are dead now. I used to go to my moms but she passed and now I just do whatever my friends who invite me to their place do. I still buy and receive presents, though.
My family all gets together for Chanukah. We light the candles together, sing holiday songs in Hebrew, and enjoy latkes, which are potato pancakes. Jelly doughnuts and exchanging presents are two more of our traditions.
Every Christmas Eve my family gets together for fondue. Like melting pot style. Raw meat, raw veggies, etc and we all cook together in 3 pots of some broth recipe. It’s the only time of the year we do it and it’s always Xmas eve. Been doing it my entire life and I’m 37
I don't really have because I am single and live alone. I try to relax and watch holiday shows.
My favorite holiday traditions is during Christmas. On the eve of Christmas eve we go to my dad's side of the family and have dinner; the children exchange gifts. On Christmas eve we go to my in laws house with the kids and we exchange presents, watch Christmas movies, and eat dinner. The husband and I prepare the gifts and place them under the tree. Christmas morning we get to live through the magic of Christmas through the eyes of our children. We then go to great mother's house and eat lunch, exchange gifts, chat, talk, and laugh. It's exhausting, but so worth it!
Got a couple. Every Thanksgiving we have the whole family which is mostly my moms side over and we cook. It’s considered our holiday and it’s great to connect with everyone. Every Christmas Eve we do the hide the pickle ornament on the tree and who ever finds it on the tree usually gets a small gift. Every Memorial Day and Labor Day our immediate family chips in and gets filets for the grill. We do this for the beginning and the end of the summer.
Our only real holiday tradition is a Christmas Eve dinner with immediate family. We always cook a ham and then open presents. We have an immediate family gathering on Christmas even and then we spread out on to extended family or dinners with boy/girlfriends and friends. For thanksgiving we usually do something similar, having a small, close family dinner before the actual holiday and then spreading out to a larger gathering or gatherings on the actual day. We used to go out and tour Christmas light displays but thee are fewer children now so this is rare.
I just hang out with my family on Christmas Eve and day and that's it. Nothing too special.
Our holiday traditions are always to purchase a fresh Christmas tree and to decorate it as a family. We exchange a couple gifts on Christmas eve but save most of them until Christmas morning. We usually visit with friends and family over the next couple days after Christmas but won't be able to do that this year for obvious reasons. We always have a nice Christmas meal and enjoy listening to Christmas music and decorating the house with things we have collected over the years.
I usually go to my parents house for Christmas Eve to exchange presents with family.
Most of them include doing traditional things. We are doing boot night which is a German style holiday. We do Christmas gifts and decorate a tree. We put up the lights and drink egg nog. So we do enjoy the holidays and keeping up some of the traditions we all find endearing.
My holiday traditions include making several different types of cookies and candies (differ each year) and swapping some of them with my sister. I also do Elf on the Shelf with my kids, but they are allowed to touch the elves (we have 3 elf pets, 2 girl elves and one boy elf). They usually make their first appearance right after Thanksgiving. We have an artificial Christmas tree that we assemble and decorate each year. We are traditionally a "rainbow Christmas family" as I call it-our tree and decor are NOT white lights/fancy; it's always rainbow lights, red bows, and ornaments that we have accumulated over the years. Each child receives an ornament their first Christmas which is a keepsake that will be given to them to hang on their own trees when they have families of their own.
Things might be a little different because of our current pandemic, but on Christmas Eve i go to church for the only time of the year; with the possible exception of Easter. Also, my family and i do the usual Christmas festivities: stockings, presents and time with family. One thing i love which i wish was year round is egg nog, that stuff is delicious and this is the only time of the year it's on shelves.
We generally gather as a family around this time and eat a meal consisting of sweets and meats. A Christmas tree is put up in early December and we place wrapped gifts under it for a later occasion.
Christmas Eve with friends and Christmas day with family. Making French Canadian meat pies that my mom used to make every Christmas.
My holiday traditions include and Advent wreath and penance service at our local parish. I get and tree, decorate, and Christmas Eve we open gifts. Christmas Day is for Mass. The tree stays up until the Epiphany.
We have hot chocolate and new pj's under the tree Christmas night
One of the best is setting up the Christmas tree with my wife and decorating it with all the festive decorations. We listen to Christmas music, have hot chocolate and hanging out.
I prefer to always be home for the holidays with my family in my mom and dad's house. We enjoy Christmas Eve together with Chinese food, watching Christmas movies like Elf and the Home Alone movies (only 1 and 2!), and baking and eating Christmas cookies. On Christmas morning, it's customary to be awake and downstairs sometime before 10, but my mom likes when everyone is awake around 9. We all gather in the living room around the artificial Christmas tree and open gifts and our stockings, which my mom continues to stuff and fill to the brim, even though my brother and I are 30 and 28, respectively. After opening gifts, we sit down at the kitchen table with Christmas music or a parade on tv, and we eat my mom's breakfast casserole that she makes every year with eggs, sausage, and cheese. We usually also have fresh fruit and these special cinnamon rolls from a local grocer that come in a tin that's the shape of a Christmas tree. My godfather typically comes over to eat breakfast with us and bring Christmas cards doting a check inside for my brother, parents, and me. Then, we relax most of the day and sometimes enjoy some of our new gifts and gadgets, and Christmas dinner tends to be something more traditional and warm, such as ham with all the delicious sides, or a big yummy casserole.
