I would enable IDFA tracking because I believe in customized tailored advertisements for individuals, using data is a benefit and there is no risk because the company is respecting the privacy of the customer and selling information.
I would use this because they have replaced personal data with something else.
I would enable it because i work in marketing and i know how important it is for paid advertisers to be able to target ads to certain people
I like the enable tracking. I think this statement applies to me more.
I would have that enabled because I like getting customized advertisements. Getting customized ads makes things easier for me when there are things that I want to buy.
I like to see more targeted ads
I would welcome this because it could also help with missing person or things like that.
If it's not sharing any personal identifiers, I don't have a problem with tracking.
I would probably enable it. I would rather see targeted advertisements than non-targeted, I guess.
I would let them track me to better there tech
The personalized ads do not bother me at all.
I am going to get ads anyway. They might as well be for things that I could be interested in. I don't think just because an ad is tailored to me that I am being tricked into buying something. Plus I might see something new.
I would rather enable this, meaning that if I didn't do this than it is disabled, making me feel safer about the product and liking Apple more.
I would choose A and enable it as long as they were not receiving any personal information other than info about advertisements that would be relevant to me
Since I don't think we'll ever be able to not be tracked and targeted I would keep this on so at least it's anonymous.
I really like tailored advertisements. For me if you don’t like being tracked or monitored you don’t need a smart phone.
I think the safer default for all consumers is to have tracking OFF. The message in A, where a consumer is to choose to turn on is the more appropriate message and action.
they're very close but A makes more sense. Easier to read and understand
Honestly I feel like people are being too worried about tracking being used by the government to analyze data. I do not think it is a problem. I personally do like when I get targeted advertisements while scrolling through social media or anything on the internet because the stuff that shows up on my feed is relevant to things that I like and has a higher chance to be clicked on if I actually find that stuff to be interesting. It is also a huge hassle to disable tracking.
I am an IT professional (though I don't dabble much in security), but the way I see it is, I personally don't mind if a fringe benefit of my data being haplessly mined by Apple and other companies is me having a "better ad experience" when faced with "unwanted" advertisements, then I choose to drink the Kool-aid and share my data. Of course, this depends heavily on the app. If it's a random, third-party game made by some developers in a basement in Korea, then, no I'd rather not share my info and would opt out. But if it's a shopping app I regularly use that also shows ads, I'd go ahead and share because I find on my PC when I do enable ads (I use Ublock origin), at the very least I see items that are relevant to my recent searches and shopping, and that can be helpful to inspire me to check out new vendors, brands, and products I may not have been able to find on my own. So when it comes to my Apple devices, I would likely just allow access most of the time, which is why I chose Option A.
I would enable tracking as it usually enhances the app experience and makes it more customizable to you.
I think this could be helpful to the user
I think getting custom and personalization recommendations/content is an important time saver. I see the stuff that's most relevant or important to me in the front rather than searching for it.
I would enable it, now knowing that it doesn’t personally identify myself. I am fine with doing this because it protects my privacy for the most part.
I think it is useful and would usually want it on, but I think this makes more sense also because it shows that by default it is off and more consumer choice.
I think in this case it should be an opt in not an opt out situation since it deals with personal privacy
I don't like the idea of being tracked, but they are not getting any of my personal information. I would rather get advertisements that might interest me than ones that I don't care about at all.
I would enable it because it allows it to be customized for me, but doesn't reveal and personal info
I don't have an issue with tracking and feel it can probably be useful in some circumstances so I would probably just leave it on unless it had issues with battery life or data use at all.
I would like ads targeted to what I am interested in. If I am searching for something, it is nice to have ads for what I am I am looking for.
I would only enable this tracking because of the anonymous idendifier.
I think I will enable the tracking because I want to use the new technology.
I don't think that the advertising would stop in either situation it's not a disable then they don't show you any kind of thing. As far as I understand it. So disabling in my mind only changes it to ads not appealing by me. So then I have still got tons of ads but yet they are nothing I care of at all. Not appealling just boring and there. So for me I would rather them be tailored to my likes and wants and desires rather than random and willy nilly.
I prefer content delivered to me that is more applicable to me based on my consumer preferences and other relevant information. Its simply more efficient and helpful to me.
I chose A because tracking doesn't bother me. I've learned that customized advertising works strongly in my favor. I get deals and special things that targeted just to me. I like that a lot! A makes a lot sense to me.
I don't mind the tracking. At least ads are relevant then!
I would prefer that Apple ask that I want to opt in to these features vs assuming I would be ok with tracking my information.
There are some apps I would enable tracking for but most I would disable tracking.
I do not think that the majority of apps need to be able to track me. I would disable it unless it was necessary.
I would rather not be tracked.
Apple doesn't need to track me. Also I don't need advertisers knowing my habits.
I want to protect my privacy and find ad tracking to be intrusive and unhelpful so I’d disable it.
I do not prefer the tracking.
I am strongly opposed to being tracked. It is an invasion of privacy.
I hate the idea of being tracked. I greatly value privacy.
Not knowing when it is happening and to who makes me less comfortable with the idea.
I don't want my data tracked by anyone or anything anonymous or not. I don't need targeted advertisements. If I am interested in purchasing I will look into the product myself and do my own research. I don't need targeted adds, its a load of crap where advertisers say it will make my life easier/better.
I do not want anything to do with tracking of me or my data being shared or identified.
Choice b is clear on what you would be disabling
I certainly do not need any more tracking on my phone for advertising or otherwise so I would turn this feature off for sure.
I would prefer not to reveal my personal information to advertisers. Ads targeting doesn't even make sense in most cases - the ads appear for similar products that have been purchased or for services already in use. It does not make much sense to show Disney ad after I have purchased monthly subscription
I prefer to be tracked as little as possible. I already receive too many targeted ads, so I don't want to enable this functionality to allow for more.
I would rather keep my information private and I would disable it so I wasn't being tracked. I don't get much of a benefit from customized advertisement so I would rather skip it.
I wouldn't want entities tracking me. It is an invasion of privacy to me
I would prefer to disable it, as I would feel more secure.
I give them credit for allowing for annonymity but I still don't approve have having my activity tracked for ad customization. I don't need to make any more unnecessary purchases.
I would disable tracking unless it were absolutely needed for the purposes of the application. I don't feel the need to be tracked by advertisers in order to receive more directed advertisements.
This tracking seems a bit stalker-like and I think it is a bad thing in my opinion.
It gives me the why and how
Even if it's anonymous, the identifier also makes it more likely the advertisers continue tracking me on my next newer mobile device. I also don't like paying for data to help advertisers making money.
I do not want any tracking on my digital profile if I can help it so I would opt out any time I had the option.
I don't want my data being tracked
Disable is more attractive to me.
I would disable tracking, of course! What person in his right mind wouldn't?
Giving away data to Apple for free, which should be paid for is silly. I would NOT want to be tracked. If they want to do this, give me something, money or a deep discount on a new I phone.
I rather not get tracked by what so ever.
I don't like when companies know too much about me. This would allow me more freedom in my opinion
I do not like being tracked. I do not want to be tracked.
I chose option B because I get the appeal of personalized ads for the both the consumer and company doing the tracking. However, I do not like the power that comes to the company that owns my data. They can do whatever they like from there with it that stretches beyond just advertising.
I would prefer no tracking if possible.
Other than my GPS app, I can't think of a reason that any of my apps needs to know where I am. I am exhausted by the constant barrage of advertising to the point where I tend to avoid brands that are targeted towards me. I know it's probably 'privacy theater,' because there is no privacy left in the digital world, but I keep everything on my phone as locked down as I can
I don't think I need to be tracked anywhere. It feels invasive. I don't need more advertisements. I get plenty, far too many, as is.
I’m not comfortable with tracking. I always disable location in apps when I use them and if I could disable tracking, I would.
I prefer only specific apps that involve maps or weather to have my location
I would disable it, but honestly if it was mandatory I really wouldn't care very much.
I would pick choice B because if I was given the option I would disable the IDFA. I am not a fan of the personalized ads to the degree that we are getting right now and would disable the IDFA if I could. I don't believe that we give up some of our privacy just because we buy an iphone.
I would disable it as I care about my privacy
I do not like to be tracked as a general rule and do not find a lot of value in being tracked. Only when it has specific value to me would I turn it on. The option to turn it off would be a positive thing to me.
I get too much spam email already! Hopefully this will help eliminate at least some
Except for my Maps app, I don't let any app track me. Why do they need that information? How does it benefit me? I give them a lot of data, so location data seems like an okay one not to share.
I find it a bit creepy to be tracked, to look something up and then all of a sudden you see a lot of ads for the said Item. On the other hand it does tailor your interests, so it does have value.
I always try to turn off these type devices, I don't want anything tracking me.
I will always try to disable tracking because of privacy concerns.
As I don't pay too much attention to ads on apps, I would prefer that none of my personal information was given out. Opting out would offer me an extra level of privacy protection.
I do not need advertisers telling me what they have. when I need something I know how to find it.
There is no harm in disabling this, so why would I not to gain extra privacy?
Option B because I hate being tracked and I hate ads.
I chose B because I do not want my activity tracked. I think it is a invasion of privacy.
Because I would not want to be tracked in this manner.
I don't want advertisers to know how much I'm willing to pay for the things I buy because if they know, they can target me at the maximum prices I'm willing to pay. If they don't know any better, they can't strategize how much to squeeze from me.
These ads have gone way to far these days.
I would definitely disable it. I do not want to be tracked. I value my privacy.
Im not sure i understand the whole picture but not being tracked sounds good
I would not want to be tracked so I would chose this option.
i'm current not a fan of custom based ads as it seems like it's information sold for money about me
I would disable tracking, I don't want my data tracked for anything.
I chose option B, to disable tracking. I always try to stop these tracking systems since I feel uncomfortable that my information is so much in the air for anyone to see.
I think I would typically disable it. I don't always hate having tailored ads/content but it seems a little immoral maybe to track someone's data which you will probably sell to advertisers without any compensation for the person being tracked.
I do not like the idea of being monitored in any way.
I don't like being tracked by advertisers. I don't care if the ads I see are accurate, I'd rather them not have my information.
I would only not enable it because my phone is old and slow enough as it is.
My go to is typically to deny any tracking access unless I think it would be helpful.
I think having the ads curated to me is creepy and makes me uncomfortable
I don't want to see that when I first open the app and would disable it.
No body likes advertising even if it is targeted. No one like to get separated from their money especially in times of pandemic when it is harder to make money.
I chose B because I don't need any additional advertisements. If I was looking for a product, I will research it, don't shove it down my throat. I have never bought ANYTHING from a suggested ad. I am so annoyed when ads pop up after they stalk my conversations, site visits, etc that I won't purchase from those companies. Overall, I would disable the tracking because I don't want commercials or ads constantly interrupting my day for things I will NEVER buy.
I would disable tracking because I fell that it is a privacy issue. I also feel that it could lead to safety and account security issues.
I would disable it. I think there is a lot of privacy issues with tracking.
I think this is a better description than A
I would likely choose to disable tracking so as not to be "followed".
I do not like my information being tracked so I would disable it.
At first I liked the idea of customized advertising and having tracking to make it easier to cater to me, but then it turned into a whole mess of ads and anytime I did anything I would see ads for it regardless of whether or not it was relevant to my interests. If I could choose which ads can get through, then that would be much more helpful.
I think they track enough they don’t need one more thing
I do not want to tracked in anyway or form. That is invading my privacy!!
I generally would rather not be tracked if given the option.
To always be tracked when I do an internet search does not help me, it helps the advertisers. To me it's invasive. It's downright creepy when I look up something on my i-Phone and then see it on Facebook a few later. It stops me from searching for some things. I'll go to the store instead to avoid being tracked.
I don't like profiles of myself being built, even if they're "anonymous".
Tracking is just another way to take away my privacy. Although I can not stop all acts of invasion, I will make the greatest attempt to stop what I can. I highly value my privacy and I do not condone companies spying on my activity online or tracking me in any way
I would probably disable tracking if I had the choice because i'd prefer companies not to be tracking my activity online, even if it meant I got less targeted ads.
I don't like that I am being tracked on my home computer.
I don't like having people tracking my movement
I think privacy is a big concern for many users. To protect individual's privacy, it is necessary to disable tracking from mobile devices.
I have no problem with companies delivering customized advertisements.
DISABLE. I feel like technology has come to the point where it is controlling our lives. We're being tracked in the real world as well as what we're doing online. I don't need advertisers to track me well.
I always disable tracking unless it's a navigation app
I would absolutely disable IDFA tracking and I should be able to do it now. I hate that big tech is stealing my information and invading my privacy.
I do not ever enable tracking
I have always read in newspapers that you should disable any and all tracking. They know better than I do. I'm not really all that worried about advertisers but I worry more about other things they may do with my data. I don't really trust anyone.
I would disable the tracking because the idea that someone is studying me and my preferences in order to define a better advertisement system to entice me to buy is not something I want. Random items might get new customers instead of Pidgeon-holing customers to one type of advertising.
We are being tracked enough in the US and I am trying to reduce the number of ways. This would help me do that.
I am not comfortable with tracking apps. I know they are important for marketing, but I turn them off or to only when using as often as I can.
Most likely the advertisements in apps either don’t apply to me or are for other apps that seem sketchy anyway.
I've always been creeped out by targeted ads, so I'd rather do away with them completely.
My husband and I often share a computer and I find it irritating when I'm bombarded with ads that should be for him; or if I try to surprise him with a gift, only to have the computer announce to him that I've been searching for a particular item.
I, along with many of us get inundated with ads all day long. It would be nice to turn this feature off but I have my doubts on if it would really work or not.
I don't want personalized advertisements, I find them to be too repetitive and annoying.
I have no issue with receiving advertisements, but I don't want to see custom ads. It does nothing for me, really, but make me wonder how much they know about me. I would disable tracking because I don't want to be bombarded by ads that are trying to get me to purchase more things. We have a consumeristic culture already without this feature.
If I can easily choose not to be tracked that is what I would choose.
I would want to have it off automatically so I could decide later which apps I would want to have it approved for.
Because I would prefer that my data not be used for advertising purposes
I do not want advertising companies to be able to track me on my cell phone, or across the different websites and online properties that I visit.
I don’t want anyone tracking me
I would disable tracking because i typically do when using apps or the internet. Although I don't mind sharing some information, it is questionable what tech companies are doing with user data. As a rule of thumb I usually disable apps that want to track or record my usage. This is a safety precaution, so I usually err on the side of privacy.
I would turn it off as I don't think this is wanted or necessary
I feel like tech companies take too many privacy liberties. I want the option to get out.
Yea, eff advertiser tracking. I hate being a product.
I still don’t want to be track. I appreciate the efforts made the make the process more anonymous but still a privacy concern.
I value my privacy like a lot of people. I hate advertisers knowing my habits and where I visit.
I would prefer not the have tracking enabled because I dislike the concept of allowing companies access to my personal information for their financial gain.
I don't like the idea of IDFA and like the idea of disabling it.
Option B was my initial gut reaction and made sense to me right away.
I would probably lean towards option B although I don't have a strong opinion. I would slightly prefer if my online history were not available to be seen or tracked.
It is so annoying to be tracked and targeted!! Definitely disabling it.
If the default setting was on, and I had to search through the setting in the app to disable it I would probably leave it. However if the option was in a pop up asking me to choose, of coarse I would click disable.
I prefer to opt-onto this service when necessary.
I do not like to be tracked under any circumstances, so I would disable it. This would be a good feature to be able to disable.
i personally just wouldn't want my phone to know more about me as I feel like it already knows way too much so I would likely disable it. I don't see much of a benefit for me for Apple to know more about me to give me better ads. I don't feel the need for that personally.
I DON'T WANT TO BE TRACKED OR SENT ADS. IF I WANTED TO SEE THE ADS I WOULD SEARCH FOR THEM
I have no interest in viewing ads to begin with and I DO NOT want a company to track me - anonymous or not.
I can’t stand how predatory tracking already is and do not support it at all.
I would definitely disable the tracking because I hate when advertisements constantly show up when I'm trying to look at something.
If it was an option I would choose to not be tracked. I feel like this probably happens a lot where we are tracked without knowing it, but if there was an option that popped up I would think it would be strange to allow myself to be tracked with no benefit to me.
I don't like being tracked by apple or anybody and if i could disable it it would make me much happier. The ads i get can be quite creepy.
I would 100% DISABLE tracking! I would only want to be tracked if I'm TOLD and asked permission - and maybe even compensated. When I sign up for something I don't agree to be tracked and followed and have companies use and / or sell my personal information.
I always prefer not to be tracked. So I would not want to be tracked. I hate having my privacy invaded. Thank you.
I hate the idea of tracking in general. I would see no benefit for myself by enabling this feature. What do I care if ads are customized to me? I don't want the ads anyway. I assume this just allows them to make more money off of the ads sent my way. I'd definitely opt out if this was brought to my attention.
I don't want anyone to trace/track me
I think it is inappropriate for Apple to sell our data to advertisers. They are just hurting because they don't have a new device to launch. This is a route that I'm not happy with.
it would be preferable to not have tracking enabled to assist in the notion of privacy. it seems like the most appropriate option to choose if the goal is to ensure privacy searching and use of a particular app. if that is the goal of disabling, Option B is the best choice.
I just don't want to be tracked - I don't care if I get "customized" ads. I can do my own research. I'd like to stay as private as I can.
As a general rule, I disable tracking - I do not want advertisers to display anything at all, let alone "customized" advertisements. Big Brother is already watching, why give them more than we need to?
I feel too watched now as it is, i would completely disable any and all tracking!
When given the option, I disable all of the tracking for advertising. I don't like it when Apple has too much information for targeting me as a product. I buy their products to use them, not for them to use me as a product.
I feel like any thing I say an ad pops it . It feel intrusive to my life.
I prefer not to be tracked. Does it really matter? Maybe not, but it creeps me out and annoys me. I would rather pay for an app than be tracked--and if I am paying for an app I find it positively insulting that they would even think of tracking me. Why does it matter...it probably doesn't much now. But the future is a world where the way companies treat you (prices, perks etc.), will be related to your digital profile. Insurance will be based on it. There will be no privacy. So no. No tracking.
I am of the mind that any tracking is bad tracking and so far have turned off any kind of cookie or tracker that I have found on my iphone as well as in Mac OS.
I prefer to keep as much privacy as I can.
I would totally disable it. Its really annoying to see ads for things that you may search for. It literally floods your social media streams immediately.
I don't see a reason why I would leave it enabled. I don't necessarily mind being tracked if there is a purpose (app related) but if it is only to serve me a more custom ad experience, further driving their own revenue via my clicks - not interested. Now if I needed to op in because it is a freemium app or the data will better the actual app experience it would be a tougher question.
I have no reason for anything to track me more than things already do
If I was given a choice, I prefer not to be tracked. Even though it happens all the time, if it was easy to disable and I saw no benefit of tracking, I would choose to disable it. If they explain a benefit, I might enable it.
Being tracked online and force-fed advertisement is one of my pet-peeves, so I would disable this
While I know advertisers already have a lot of data about me, I don't particularly want them to collect more data than they need to. If I could remain anonymous in their eyes, I would.
I disable all tracking and ignore all ads, they're just not for me.
I dont really mind when my apps track me. and anonomizing the data is a good idea.
As long as I am able to opt out, I always will from situations like this. I would rather be paid for my data than have any other party profit from it. I don't want to give away a valuable resource unnecessarily.
i do not like people or companies tracking me. i feel it breeches my security and my privacy
I would choose to disable it. This is because I prefer to not share much information with advertisers. I would welcome this type of feature.
I would disable tracking because I don't believe that there is no database out there that doesn't track the anonymous number alongside identifiable behavior or ownership of device. I do not believe there is any such thing as "anonymous" tracking.
I generally disable tracking where possible. I realize I'm losing the ability to receive personalized ads, but I prefer to maintain as much privacy as I can with reasonable efforts. Even non-personalized ads still show, and there's always the possibility that one might catch my interest even if it wasn't something I was previously interested in.
I think big tech knows way too much about me. It's really kind of scary. I'd definitely disable it.
I would rather not be able to tracked in the apps I use.
I would disable the tracking as other data not made available through Apple could led to personalized identification such as location. I tend to want Apps to have less information about me
I am in support of anonymity and reducing the amount of data being sold to 3rd party users.
I do not like the idea of being tracked. Many times I look up something just because I am curious, not because I am actually interested in the topic. What I search for should be my privacy, not for others to expound on
I would start with it disabled, knowing I could always enable later. This is mainly because I tend to disable or opt out of everything at first and then enable later if I need it for my tech to function as I want. Because I'm not really familiar with the purpose of IDFA tracking, I would especially disable it until I could do more research into what it actually means.
I feel like every part of my life is tracked somehow, so i would rather disable tracking when i have the option. Otherwise i know every part of my life is being recorded somehow.
I am not a fan of advertisers tracking what I look at when online. I also think it opens the door for others to utilize tracking software.
There is no need to be tracking me
I can’t stand personalized advertising. I’d rather see random ads to discover new things. Even with it being anonymous, just not a fan of it.
