I bought photos of myself. I'm not normally the type to put up pictures of myself or my family in my household, but my relatives are and I'd been putting off on giving them a good photo of myself to put in a picture frame for a long time. Something about COVID showing up so suddenly just gave me the urge to go out and get a professionally taken photo. I don't know, I didn't think that I would die from the virus, but I guess it just reminded me of my mortality and gave me a reason to finally give them something to remember me by if something were to happen.
I ended up buying a guitar. I wanted to start a new hobby to keep my sanity during the pandemic.

Hours of play are noon-2pm and 6-8pm everyone in the house is fair game. If you don't want to be shot during these hours I have a huge garden that needs attention and acreage that needs plowing (outdoor activities). I never considered buying one before the pandemic because I assumed it would be a timesuck and I would not leave the house as much or see friends, family, etc. But now that I can't do those activities anyway I made the purchase.

I've bought a lot of hand moisturizer. It's not something I ever bought or used before; I've always found them to leave me feeling oily. HOwever, the alcohol-based hand sanitizer made my hands look like an alligator's skin, so I needed it for the first time.

I purchased a case of red wine through Groupon. I rarely drink wine (or hard liquor), only beer. When I do purchase wine, it is one or two bottles at a time, and for when I am hosting guests or visiting friends. It seemed like a good deal, until I redeemed the offer and had to pay $30 for shipping and $12 in taxes. So now I have a case of red wine and during the pandemic, I have not been socializing and do not plan to socialize until there is an effective vaccine. I now need to find a cool location to store it.
I would say my weirdest purchase would have to be a 12 pack of toilet paper, which isn't a weird product. But, the fact I would find and cherish a 12 pack of toilet paper is weird in itself during this modern era. I ran out and I literally couldn't find any toilet paper anywhere. When I finally did find some, I was ecstatic! Who would have thought that. So, that's the "weirdest" purchase I've made during the pandemic.

My wife and I decided to buy a DNA kit for our dog. It was a completely spontaneous purchase after a friend of ours bought one. When we adopted our dog off of Craigslist, the listing said she was a dachshund-chihuahua mix. We always kind of wondered if that was actually true or not, so we decided to get the DNA test while stuck inside because waiting for the results would give us something to look forward to.

A freezer! Having one already, the closures of meat processing plants due to outbreaks, scarcity of meat products and increased prices have led us to consider long-term options to maintain our food supply with minimal disruption and costs. Additionally, we were not alone as freezer manufacturing is woefully behind consumer demand.
