Thanksgiving is a time for reflection. One of the holiday’s most enduring traditions — in a typical year, anyway — is to ask those gathered around the table what they are most thankful for.
This year is different, of course. Many of us have planned scaled-down festivities that may or may not include turkey and Zoom.
So we posed the question virtually, asking 50 people in a PickFu poll what they are most thankful for this year. Perhaps not surprisingly, being healthy was top of mind for most.

Good health
I am thankful for my health, grateful to have strong immunity and have unlimited energy to spend time with family and friends. — Female, age 25-34

I have had to work as an essential worker throughout most of the pandemic. I am thankful that I haven’t gotten sick. — Female, age 35-34
I am most thankful that members of my family so far have survived the COVID-19 pandemic. — Male, age 35-44
I’m thankful I have my health and haven’t contracted COVID-19. I’m thankful my friends keep in touch, even though we’re isolated and can’t get together. I’m thankful I was offered an early retirement package that will keep me going for quite some time. — Male, age 55-64
Steady job/income
This year, I am most thankful for just having a job. It wasn’t a job I liked at the start of the year, but now I am just thankful given all that is going on with the world right now. — Female, age 18-24
I am most thankful to be able to work from home and not lose my job during a pandemic. — Male, age 25-34
I have been able to earn a decent income online due to the Covid issues. I have also learned other ways to earn money and am even a game tester now. Pretty much thankful I can now travel anywhere and still have an income. — Male, age 35-44
Family ties
I am most thankful for the extra time that I get to spend with my family. I have two small children that I get to spend lots of time with and I cherish these moments. — Male, age 25-34
I’m thankful for my two baby nieces. They are the light of my life, especially the older one, since I’m her godmother. I am so lucky to get to watch them grow up and they are the cutest, sweetest humans I know. — Female, age 25-34
Whew…that’s a tough one. I guess I am thankful that my family and I have managed, thus far, to stay healthy (knock on wood). I am also thankful that my husband and I grew closer and stronger in our marriage through the pandemic. — Female, age 35-44

Positive personal changes
I am most thankful that I overcame a lot of my negative habits this year from drinking to drug use. I’m thankful that I was able to put the negative me in the past. — Male, age 25-34
I’m most thankful that I just bought a beautiful house, and now I can do whatever I want with it and not worry about stupid apartment rules. I also have a lot more closet space instead of having to pile all of my clothes in one spot. Our mortgage rate is insanely low as well. — Female, age 25-34
