We went for a hike in our favorite place and the whole time I was acting a little nervous, but when we got to the end I found the perfect spot looking over the city and asker her to marry me and she said yes.
My husband took me out to a nice restaurant and proposed there.
I did it towards Christmas. We went to a house that played music to a light show. Once it ended I proposed and she said yes. We were young and it was great in my mind. It was beautiful.
No romance involved at all. We were on the couch one night watching a movie, talking about the 'what if' we got married. A few weeks later, we were at the mall, and he steered me into a jewelry store to pick out a ring.
I took my bride to be to a romantic island getaway to Fiji. We had our own "hut" out on the water and it was secluded. On the second day we shared a great dinner and had some high end wine. We watched the sunset on the water and I proposed and she accepted.
It wasn't really romantic, but it was unexpected. We were on top of this look out, that happens to be my favorite place. As I was taking a photo I looked down and saw him on his knee. I told him he had to be kidding and it wasn't funny to joke with me. We had been together 7 years and already had a child, so it was always a joke as to whether we would get married or not. Even though it wasn't the most romantic, it's my favorite story to tell.
I was proposed to at dinner with the ring in my drink.
Mine marriage proposal was very unromantic. I became pregnant and he said let's get married.
My now husband arranged to meet me at lunch. I knew what was going down so I agreed. Then at lunch he pretended that he forgot the ring at work. Then at in the parking lot after lunch he just gave it to me before I drove off in my car. AND I STILL SAID YES AND WAS EXCITED EVEN.
My husband asked "how come you're not married?" I said "I don't know?". He said "you want to get married?". I said "ok". Nothing too fancy or special about it. That's our story.
We were at Yosemite. We went on a 6 hour hike on the mirror trail. It was only just us surrounded by hundreds of hummingbirds. I knew this was the place and moment so that was when I dropped to my knee and pulled the ring out of my backpack.
My wife and I went to our favorite boardwalk and sat at our favorite bench. When the sun was setting, I got down on one knee and asked my wife to marry me. Our families were there, since I had clued them in early, and we all went out to dinner afterwards.
It was perfect on the lake at our favorite place to travel. Took place in a beautiful park full of flowers on the water.
He asked in a restaurant and I said yes. Nothing fancy.
My husband asked me to marry him when he was getting ready to leave my parents house and it was at his car.
I surprised my fiance with a homemade basket lunch at a very popular outdoor park. I tied the ring around the stem of her win glass and asked her to serve the wine for us. Needless to say she was surprised.
I proposed to my wife in the middle of Boston Garden on a footbridge. It was across from the restaurant where we had our first date. We later got married at a hotel just steps from the garden.
It wasn't really special. I got pregnant and we decided to get marry. We have been together for 11 years now.
I wish my marriage proposal was as romantic as the image is but sadly it wasnt. but I am still married so something worked
I was dating a girl much younger from me. We were in love. I went to her house to visit. She was sitting at the kitchen table and her Dad was cooking something on the stove. She told me that she was pregnant. Her Dad looked at me and said "What you going to do now, son?" I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She screamed yes. True story, and we are still married 28 years later.
we broke up for 3 years, got back together and I said "we should probably get married" she said yes
it was on the stone bridge in Central Park in NYC on New Year's Eve - it was not that romantic to be honest because it was a nice day and there were a billion people around but it was unexpected and memorable nonetheless
My husband proposed on Christmas day after we'd been dating for almost a year. The weather was unseasonably nice, actually sunny and not too cold, so he suggested we go for a walk to a nearby park after I'd come out to his place on Christmas to visit. So we went for a walk a few blocks, to a gazebo at the park along the Columbia river. I just thought we were out for a walk, then all the sudden he got down on one knee and started telling me how he felt about me and how nobody else made him so happy and he wanted to be with me for the rest of his life. He was crying and stammering and I ended up telling him yes before he could even get the whole proposal out because he was too overcome with emotion to continue. This was 13 years ago, and we recently celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary.
We had our future somewhat planned before we even got engaged. I went with him to buy the ring and we went back to his parents house. Once there, he looked at me and said so you want to get married and handed me the ring.
I had been dating a guy for almost a year, and I hadn't had much previous success in relationships so I really didn't expect it to blossom, but then to my surprise it did. Everyday I realized I was falling more and more in love with the guy I was dating, and I was interested in everything he thought, said, etc. He was into me just as much. We took a weekend away from work and everything else going on, and I assumed it was because he knew I was under so much stress at work so he had arranged it for my benefit because he's very considerate. So we left, went to the beach for a weekend and he took me out to my favorite restaurant in Sarasota, and after dinner we danced on the dance floor near the open dining area, to live jazz music, where we could see the beach just outside because the windows were from ceiling to floor. I knew he was really trying because he's not much of a dancer so it made me happy that he was trying. After that we walked outside and he sat me down and pulled off my shoes, grabbed my hand and we went for a walk on the beach just as the sun was going down. He stopped me during the walk when no one was around and asked me to be his wife. The view outside (including him) was beautiful. Of course I said yes.
We were visiting her family out of state for thanksgiving. I had the ring, knew I wanted to do it with her friends and such around. Didn't know the right moment so I said fuck it. A bunch of us were going out one night and someone needed to stop at the ATM.So about 6 of us are in the ATM room at a Bank of America. One girl was checking out my wife's promise ring and I said "could use an upgrade". My wife said "that's on you buddy". I set myself up nicely as I replied "oh really" as I dropped to one knee with ring in hand.In short, I proposed to her at a BofA on a Friday night.
My husband took me out to dinner at a favorite spot we both enjoyed and had a desert was sent to me with flowers and a box. Inside was an engagement ring!
My husband proposed to me while watching our favorite TV show, a comedy. I thought he was kidding as he is a comedian. He said, not this time.
It was pretty special. I was proposed to at the first place that we met.
My girlfriend and I had gone out for the day together and spent all day together travelling. When we got home I told her there was one more thing I had to do and then proposed to her.
My husband took me to one of the highest mountain peaks in AR. Overlooking an afternoon sunset with my dogs, he proposed.
I proposed on a New Year's Eve cruise in San Francisco Bay at midnight. It was freezing cold and rainy, and I told my girlfriend that I wanted to go out on the deck. She thought I was nuts but said okay. We were the only ones out there. The only person who saw us was the captain who was up above.
I went ring shopping about 27 years ago with my now husband. We picked my ring out together. There was no surprise element, but that's okay. We've been married over 25 years already!
My husband proposed to me after work one night when I least expected it. He fixed me dinner and had the ring arranged on the plate such that I didn't see it at first. I took a few bites of my food and commented how delicious the meal was. I noticed a strange look on his face and then I saw the ring! He said I thought you would never notice it and would you be my wife? of course I said yes and the rest is history 36 years later.
I was living in a different state from my girlfriend at the time. I was coming into town at the same time as her family. They were coming in a day earlier than me supposedly. I had her family take her to a spot in town that was very meaningful to us, like they were doing touristy type things. While they were there, I came out of nowhere, as she was not expecting me until the next day, and proposed. I had a photographer capture they entire thing so we could remember it. I then had all of her friends and family at a local restaurant ready for us to show up and we had a large celebration that night after the proposal.
My husband took me to the place where we had our first date, it was a mini golf place. He went to the area where we shared our first kiss and then that is when he got down on one knee and proposed it was on our 2nd year dating anniversary.
I regret to this day how lame my proposal was to my wife. We were going out with friends to a comedy club to see a show and I was going to try to see if I could get on stage and propose in front of the whole crowd. Unfortunately I chickened out and wound up proposing to her before we left in private. It wasn't very romantic...
We were chatting and talking over the phone before we actually met. When we met, we liked each other instantly and my spouse proposed to me right then. We got engaged in a week and got married within 6 months.
I wanted to surprise my wife with my proposal because she was really eager to get engaged. I was traveling for work every week and secretly stayed home. I asked my wife to come by after work to pick up and send me something important I had forgotten. When she came in I was there and got down on a knee and proposed. She was really surprised and excited.
My current wife and I were pregnant with my first child, we were walking threw the mall and happened to see a jewelry store. We were looking at rings and just asked her right there in the mall if she would marry me and she said yes. It was very unexpected and a spur of the moment decision to ask her. I figured if I waited I might get nervous and change my mind.
we got engaged on the fourth of july in 2008 and we were at a friends house. when it got dark out and we started lighting off fireworks, my husband wanted me to light one but i was scared too. he came with me to the middle of the street to light it and as we ran back to the sidewalk to watch it he got down on one knee in fron off all our friends and proposed. it may not be as romantic as some people would tell but it was super sweet and awesome that he included all of our friends and also had a beautiful firework going off behind us when he asked me to be his wife.
Life isn't a Disney movie so I stuck to something practical and in an area of her interest. We met on Twitch, a gaming website where people stream their gameplay and chat with others. I was a streamer for a few months and met her. Little over a year later after moving in together, I proposed to her with the help of our favorite streamer that we met in person several years ago. I made a donation to the streamer so my proposal came up while she was watching and the streamer made a big deal about it.
My marriage proposal was at his parents house in his bedroom. We were going to an event with his family that night and he had already told them that he was going to propose. So he thought he should tell me before we went.
I booked a hotel on New Year's Eve at the Rotunda in Birmingham, England. Our room had a 180 degree view of the city and at midnight I proposed and she said yes! We celebrated by being able to see all the fireworks throughout the city & a bottle of champagne.
I propos3d on a bridge over the water. Had my brother in law w8th me to do pictures. It was pretty cool
I proposed to my wife in our house. It was a simple proposal followed by home cooked meal.
My marriage proposal was pretty typical. I took my wife out to a nice restaurant, one that we had been too many times together, and I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me.
It was a beautiful serenade that she didn't expect. There was a violin and guitar involved and I sang my heart out to her before I popped the question. I felt it was very romantic.
I proposed on the top of a hill at a park during a hike. My fiance knew I was going to propose and thought that was why we were going on the hike, so it wasn't very romantic or surprising.
I proposed to my wife on Valentine's Day. I told her I knew she had to work that day and probably wanted to shower and get dressed before I took her out to dinner, so since I only had to work until noon, I'd come over and walk her dog so that would be less thing for her to do. I bought a red ribbon to tie around the dog's neck. It took me forever to teach that dog not to pull off that ribbon... Ha ha! Using treats I finally got the dog to cooperate. I put the ring inside a card and wrote in the card "will you marry me?" I but the flap of the card around the ribbon and then sealed it to the envelope. When she arrived home, the dog ran to her as usual. She asked if the dog got her a Valentine and I told her to open and see for herself. She opened the card, read it and said "Yes!"
My husband proposed after I got home from a basketball game (my team won). I came in the house and there were candles all over the place and it led to the bedroom where he was down on one knee. I said yes!
It was weird and not too romantic, just I want to marry you, while lying in bed
We went out and had a nice dinner with our son, who is 2. When we came home, my then-fiance and I watched a movie and had a nice night at home. The next morning, he woke me up early and told me he needed to ask me something. I was startled because I thought something had happened, but he took my left hand and slid a ring on my finger, and while doing so, asked me to be his wife. It was a very sweet and memorable moment.
Well, it was kinda of mutual proposal. My husband brought a ring for me and came home. I could tell he was nervous and ready to ask me because he ran the car into the garage door! The garage door shook a little and I laughed. He was embarrassed, but I thought it was cute. We were outside in the front yard and I knew what he was going to do. He came up to me and knelt on one knee and ask me to marry him. Of course I said yes because he makes me laugh and he is the most silly guy I know, especially when he is nervous. His face was all red and blushed, but I asked him too, so he wouldn't be so nervous.
My wife was out of town with my kids because we were fighting and I wanted her to come back so I called her and proposed to get her to come back with my kids.
My birthday is two weeks before Christmas. My boyfriend and I had been dating for less than a year. For my birthday he gave me a small box which I assumed was a new watch as I really needed one for my job. As he handed me the box he got down on his knee and asked for my hand in marriage with a very beautiful diamond engagement ring. That was 45 years ago and that's the rest of the story!
I had shortly met my wife after moving from California to Atlanta. I decided a year later to ask me to marry her and I had to ask on the jetties at Newport Beach, one of my most favorite places when I lived in Cali. I got her up at dawn, we went down to the beach and I proposed to her out on the rocks on one knee. She accepted. That was 25 years ago and we are still together.
My partner proposed when we were mushroom hunting. We spent many hours in the woods and he had the ring in his pocket. While we were walking out, he pulled me outside and was shaking. He then proceeded to ask if I would marry him.
My proposal was very basic. He asked on night when we were getting ready for bed. I was proposed to once before by another man that went array. Ever since then, I didn't want a big proposal. My husband now, did it just like I would have wanted. No muss, no fuss.
At a famous seafood restaurant and cold feet in front of entire restaurant so had to go outside and do it.
I proposed to my wife on a beach in Door County WI. We had a nice dinner before hand and then went to the beach to watch the sunset. During the sunset I got down on one knee and proposed to my wife. We are married 3 years now.
It was very romantic, but it probably doesn't sound like much to someone who wasn't there (or someone who wants surprise flash mobs, etc.). We were on a hike, and my future husband was visibly nervous. At a big tree, he got down on one knee with an heirloom ring I didn't know he had, and he made a nice speech and then put on "What the World Needs Now" and we slow danced in the clearly by this tree. Then we came back on the hike, treated ourselves to beers and then ice cream, came back from the coastal town we were in and had a bottle of champagne and late night sushi.
On our six month anniversary of dating, I re-created our first date--dinner at the same restaurant, etc. After, we went to look at the water on a nearby lake. Once we were there, alone, I got on one knee and asked her to marry me.
We got engaged at a rave in front of all of our friends
My husband and I went to a store. I picked out a ring and he purchased it. Several weeks later he hadn't proposed. I asked why he hadn't proposed. He told me I knew where the ring was and that when I allowed him to purchase it I accepted his proposal.
We were already living together and mutually decided to get married to start a family.
We knew each other for 2 weeks. We had dinner at my apartment. After dinner we were talking. I pretty much knew what was coming. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes. It was close to his birthday and I had gotten a card for him. I had not signed it yet. So after saying yes I quickly signed it with Love and my name.
My proposal was not romantic at all. We had gone shopping for a ring together, so it wasn't a surprise. He didn't even get down on one knee. We were walking around town and he just stopped and asked as we were hanging out. I knew it was coming.
I actually did mine at a concert. The band stopped and called us onstage and I proposed in front of a concert crowd.
My girlfriend and I were laying in bed, talking about the future. I thought about things for a moment and asked her to marry me. I didn't even have a ring.
We were laying in bed and my husband said let's get married I want to spend the rest of my life with you and no one will ever some between us. Although it wasn't as romantic to most people we got married the next day and I was 17 years old. We have been married almost 10 years and I am even more in love now than I was that day. He is the most romantic and loving man I could have ever wished for and I thank God for giving him to me.
We were at the children's museum with her 3 year old son. We were checking out in the kids play grocery store. I kneeled down and gave him the ring to give to his mom "for payment." He proceeded to try to stuff it into a small hole on the register and I panicked. She saved the ring and said yes.
I proposed in a cemetery. Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. The statues there are quite impressive and I used to enjoy walking around and looking at them. It must have been romantic enough we've been together for 20 years.
My husband asked me to marry him, by writing "Will You Marry Me?" in the sand at Imperial Beach. As I was saying "yes" a wave washed up and erased it. It was the perfect time, the sun was going down and there was only a couple people on the beach.
I surprised my finance completely. We lived 90 minutes apart and we were to meet halfway for dinner. I surprised her by showing up at her door with a Mazda Miata (friend's car); we went to dinner. When we arrived, she was provide a rose and there was a special floral arrangement on the table. Afterwards, we hiked to a special location where I asked the question. She said Yes.
My fiance asked me to marry him at sunset on a beautiful night! I was so stunned, then ecstatic! The setting was perfect, it could not have been better. This is how our life together will be, calm, beautiful, like a sunset1
I was at my girl friends wedding, and I caught the bow kay of flowers and my husband said good hope you are next to be married would you marry me? And I said yes every one start laughing.
My proposal was rather boring to be honest. I was sitting on a couch with my girlfriend and we were watching a romantic comedy and she said she wished she could live like the couple on TV and I said "why don't we?". She looked at me and said "don't joke about such things" and I said I was serious and said "Why don't we just get married? We love each other and we know we want to be together. What's stopping us?". And she said "Okay." and we got a marriage license and got married at city hall, no church wedding or anything. Just a humble union between two people who loved each other.
On the day my husband proposed to me - we were walking down the beach and he took me by the water and got down on his knee and proposed. It was so romantic and I was not at all expecting it. He had one of my friend's there to capture the whole thing and they played it off by telling me we were just taking a walk down the beach while waiting for our table to be ready at a restaurant near by.
My husband had just returned from a work trip, and he popped the question in our living room. It wasn't romantic, which is why I gave it a 3, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
I don't even remember a marriage proposal. We talked about it a lot and then it just kind of happened. But there was no get down on your knee proposal. It was just something that both of us knew was going to happen.
My husband and I were in college when he proposed. He was in ROTC and we were attending the military ball. I had been somewhat expecting a proposal to happen soon, but I didn't think it would be this night. After the formal portion of the night ended and the dancing began, the DJ said he was playing a special song. The next think I heard was "All I Ask of You" from The Phantom of the Opera playing. It is my husband and my favorite play. As I turn around I saw my husband down on one knee with a ring asking me to marry him. All of our friends were circled around us. What made it even more special was that he had already planned a brunch with both of our families for the next morning to celebrate our engagement. He knew how important family was and even managed to have a special plan to include them in the engagement event.
We went to Monte Carlo in Monaco and he proposed at Louis XV restaurant with violins outside on the patio. We stayed in a suite at the Hotel de Paris, it was very romantic
We kind of just did it. I got pregnant unexpectedly and needed medical insurance so we got married. We always talked about getting married. Daydreamed about how and when. Said it would be on a beach, with a small crowd of just us and family. Not how I pictured it. I never seem to get what I want the way I want it. No white dress, not proposal. Just cut and dry. I am happy and wouldn't change it. One day we will do the dream scenario...
It's hard to put into words. It was the day my best-friend chose to say yes to us and be together forever.
I asked me wife while she happened to be wearing an "I'm with Stupid" T-Shirt.
When I proposed to my ex-wife over 20 years ago, we had stopped at K-Mart to buy a few things. When we got back to the car, I pulled a ring out of my pocket and asked if she would marry me. She said yes! Unfortunately now, we're divorcing and the K-Mart is now a car dealership. Oh how life changes!
We had already talked about marriage, it was a foregone conclusion. But I formally proposed to her outside at a public square downtown before we went for an italian dinner. At the time it was a "nice" dinner for us even though in reality it was a cheesy chain. It wasn't really romantic, more practical.
We were eating at Applebees when my husband ordered desert. He doesn't normally but it was my Birthday. When the Sundae came to the table I had no idea what was going on. He had hid the ring in the icecream...lol. I almost ate it! Cute enough I suppose.
My husband and I were both deployed in the Middle East. We were sitting in the USO and eating free popcorn. He told me he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, then asked me to marry him. It wasn’t anything crazy but it’s special to me
My proposal was much like this photo. My husband proposed while we were on vacation in the Dominican Republic. We were walking along the beach at dusk and he popped the question.
I RANDOMLY ASKED MY WIFE FOR HER HAND IN MARRIAGE AT THE BEACH, IT WAS SIMPLE BUT HEART-FELT.
I rented out our favorite vintage restored theater. I invited all of our family and friends and proposed to her outside. Once we got inside, I made them put on the Five Year Engagement which was the movie was saw on our first date. I think it was a really good proposal and she absolutely loved it.
My husband and I met on Match.com - we had been dating about a year when he proposed. It was a Saturday afternoon, the weather was beautiful so we went biking for the day. Once we drove back to his house we sat down, both exhausted and excited from the fun day - the next thing I knew he told me what a wonderful day he had had, how much he loved me, and asked me to marry him! Of course I said yes and the rest is history :)
Not romantic at all - after 9 years of dating, my wife had had enough and just said "give me the damn ring already."
I proposed to my wife in Edinburgh, Scotland three summers ago. I hired a guitarist/singer and a photograph in advance to be stationed at the spot I envisioned proposing to my wife.
We went on a trip to Vegas together. I didn’t have a set plan on when I was going to propose but I had the ring for me for two days looking for the right moment. I decided to do it in front of the water fountains by the Bellagio when a song we both liked was playing. We celebrated and went out to eat and had some drinks and had a good rest of our vacation.
My (now) husband knew that I saved little things from our dates and put them into a shadowbox that was engraved, "Will you marry me?"
I was in the bathroom getting ready for an event my now-husband and I had to go to. He came in and asked if I wanted an early Christmas present (it was a week or so before Christmas). He turned around and was half on one knee with a box slowly opening to reveal.... earrings! Not what I was expecting but still nice! I said thank you (half defeated haha) and turned to put them on a counter behind me. When I turned back, he was down on one knee (for real this time!) holding the ring. Even though it was simple, it sums up our relationship really well and I loved it
I took my wife to a very scenic spot but pretended like it was a n accident. we got to the scenic spot and dropped to one knee and proposed. Then her family was waiting 2 blocks up the road at our favorite restaurant. it was a very surprising and emotional night for both of us.
I invited beer to my hometown. It was raining so I asked her in a hotel room.
'twas the night before the night before christmas, and our daughter brought a small box into our bedroom where my girlfriend was folding laundry for our impending trip to the east coast to visit her family for the holidays. our daughter carried the green box into the room and i walked with her. i got down on one knee and i proposed before our trip.
I rate my proposal a 5 my husband proposed over fireworks on 4th of July
I asked my wife to "marry me" in St. Croix Virgin Islands in 1970. We have been married for over forty nine years, We were on vacation there staying at my wife's sister house on the Island,
He proposed while we were at a Washington Capitals Game. Totally took me by surprise. I asked the guy next to us to take our picture so when we stood up he dropped to one knee and the guy got it all on film. It was very sweet. I get easily embarrassed or I would have given it 5 stars. LOL
My husband and I had lived together for five years and decided to get married one day. We went to the store and picked out engagement rings and went to my parents house, where he officially asked me to marry him and asked my family for their blessings. It was a sweet proposal, but not very romantic.
I did not like my wife when we met. I thought she was aggressive and pushy. I lied to get out of being with her. We were working on the same project at our church. Not we have been married going on 48 years. I guess that I was wrong!
My mom had recently passed away. I was mentally very sad and emotional. It was Christmas Eve and we were in our bedroom wrapping presents and I had just not been in the spirit that year. He pulled the ring out from under the bed and got down on one knee and proposed. I cried and was very happy. It was a very memorable, special moment for us.
My husband and I had been to a nightclub and he had way too much to drink when he asked the question.
I proposed to my wife on Christmas eve. We have a tradition of visiting both of our families on Christmas, and before we left our apartment to go visit them for Christmas I surprised her and proposed. She had no idea that I was going to do it that day and was overwhelmed with happiness. We then left and visited our families and shared the good news with all of them.
A diamond engagement ring disguised in a watch box to throw me off was a great story
My proposal story is pretty boring by some standards. I future wife and I went to a nature preserve on the northern edge of the town we live in. I wasn't planning on proposing to her that day, but we had such a good day walking around and exploring the preserved buildings there, that I finally just proposed to her on the wooden bench outside a preserved 1870s one room school house that was there.
My husband proposed at my favorite place to vacation: Disney World! We had done other things earlier that week, but he decided to wait until the day that we went to the Magic Kingdom, where Cinderella's castle is. He proposed there, right in front of the castle with a Disney photographer in on the plan.
We collect Department 56 Christmas village pieces. My husband (then boyfriend) said he bought us a new piece to add to it. It was a wedding shop and on the top of the balcony of the piece was my ring.
My proposal was at disney world. It was full of romance, excitement, and love. It was at our favorite spot in the park where we always share wonderful, sweet memories.
My marriage proposal happened on the fourth of July immediately following fireworks. My husband who was very nervous handed me a gift for our anniversary and when I opened it I was confused and waited for clarification of the meaning of it. It was a gorgeous anniversary band but we weren't married. He said "Well, would you say yes if it were an engagement ring?" I then said yes. He then sheepishly proposed to me. It could have been much better planned but 10 years later we are still married and in love.
Proposed on a beach at sunset with my dog and a lovely note.
My husband proposed to me on a road trip. Our first cross-country road trip happened 2 months into our relaionship. He was about to be stationed in California, and I went on the drive with him. We stopped at a lot of places, but one of those was Picacho Peak in Arizona. And that's where he proposed to me...and while it was sweet that it was somewhere he thought we had a memorable connection, I hate the desert. And snakes. And after his warm, heartfelt proposal, he started trying to find snakes. There were great moments, and there were some mediocre ones. But the marriage has been fantastic!
My now husband proposed when we were on a walk around a lake with our dog. It was our three year anniversary. I had no idea he was going to propose. While we were standing still and our dog was sniffing the grass, we were looking at the lake and holding hands. Then he got down on one knee and told me how much he loved me and how he wanted me to be his wife. He said he wanted to do it when we were with our dog so we could all be together when he proposed because our dog was so important in our life.
Took my gf (now wife) on a hike on a during a cool weathered fall day. I brought along a friend who usually comes hiking (3rd wheel situation, but whatever) and asked him to bring a camera to capture when I propose. Got to one of the peak points with a nice overview of the Hudson River and upstate NY. Pulled the ring out and proposed within the backdrop. Girlfriend wash shocked/surprised and started screaming with excitement. We've been married for 3 years now and have a 3 month old daughter.
I met my wife through an online dating app and the handle I used was based on Hamlet. After we fell in love and I knew she was "the one", we took a romantic getaway to a winery/spa under the pretense of celebrating my birthday. We closed out the weekend by visiting the Atlanta Shakespeare Tavern for a production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) and I proposed between acts with some assistance from the cast. It was fun, memorable, and apparently the first time they've had someone propose there! We had our wedding at the winery and twelve years later still could not be happier.
I was on vacation in the Dominican Republic with my fiancé. After dinner we went for a walk on the r beach. After walking and talking fot a bit i got down on one knee amd proposed as the sun was setting.
I got proposed to on a beach in mexico. It was on my 5 year dating anniversary.
It happened almost 44 years ago. I proposal marriage in a beach of sea in the early morning when Sun was touched the water. We still married and happy.
It is our second marriage each. I did not want to go into marriage in debt and told him I needed to pay off my car first. He waited a couple of weeks and then asked if he could make my car payment each month, I of course said yes. He waited a month or so and then asked me again to marry him since now I technically didnt have a car payment any longer.
He rolled over in bed and said so do you wanna get married. He was feeling untethered because of illness in his family. I was an idiot to say yes.
The diamond in my engagement ring is from the ring my father gave my mother (they are divorced). So, my mother was with us when we had the diamond set in my ring and we picked it up and brought it home. My now husband proposed to me in our living room and also gave me a set of knives for an engagement gift.
I took my then girlfriend to Niagara Falls. She had never left the country before. I proposed on the American side of the falls and then walked over the Rainbow Bridge with her into Canada. It was wonderful and I wouldn't change a thing.
The weekend my husband proposed he took me to Toronto (we're from Buffalo) so it's right over the border. We went to Niagara on the Lake to see our favorite band perform, City & Colour on Friday. On Saturday morning, he surprised me and took me to the CN Tower to do the CN Tower Walk which is an amazing thrill that we've been wanting to do. We returned home that night and I went to a friends bachelorette party. While at dinner, a driver showed up with my name on a sign and said I needed to go immediately. In the private car there was roses and a photo book of pictures of my now husband and I throughout our relationship. The driver drove me to our favorite brewery where he was waiting outside for me. He proposed outside and then inside the brewery our friends and parents were there.
my boyfriend and i were having an argument so he bought a ring to propose to me. he was still mad at me and just threw the ring box to me. i asked him what was in the box and he said figure it out. i saw it was a ring and laughed. i told him he had to get down on one knee and ask me to marry him. it took him to the next day to finally get down on one knee and ask me. he saw i wasn't going to give in! not at all romantic!!!
We stayed in a resort. I hired a photographer to dress us up as people who lived in the distant past and take pictures of us. The photographer told her to look the other way and that was my cue to kneel down on one knee. When she faced me, I started to propose to her.
I had to go to New York City for business. Unbeknownst to me, my then boyfriend, flew to New York as well. He surprised me as I was leaving my meeting and asked me to go for a walk in Central Park. Once there, at the fountain, he knelt down and asked me to marry him, just as the sun was setting.
Mine is not romantic at all. My and my spouse was fighting and he came in while I was packing my stuff and proposed. I was still so mad I wouldn't even accept right away.
Mine is arranged marriage
I asked my wife to marry me while on a weekend trip at a nice hotel. I asked her at a restaurant and she was very surprised that the proposal happend in such a public place. The rest of the room clapped for us and it was a very happy and exciting experience for my wife and I.
I proposed over candle dinner at home. I made me favorite meal and played her favorite music. It was heart felt, authentic, and relaxed.
We were very young. I was visiting at his house. He had paid off a ring that he had on layaway. He had had my friends help him choose. The day after he paid it off he asked me when I came to visit him at his house. He did get down on one knee.
We got married at disney world. I had my wife make a wish in a wishing well and when she turned around, I was on one knee.
It was one of the most memorable moments that I'm going to remember the day I got that proposal from my husband. The backdrop of this picture is exactly the moment I realized this was actually happening. My future husband knelt on his knees to ask my hand in marriage and I just broke into teas and said yes. It was the most perfect sunset and timing that he picked to ask me for my hand to place on my engagement ring. I still remember that day and moment, it's not ever leaving my thoughts because it was such a happy feeling to know that I was committing to my husband at that point.
We were hiking in the mountains of Arizona one morning on vacation. We were walking on a beautiful day talking and having a wonderful time together. We climbed up a gorgeous flat-topped rock where we sat and talked about life, our jobs, our relationship, and overall life in general. We stood up to keep walking when I turned and he was down on his knee. He told me how much he loved me, how much he wanted to spend his life with me and asked if I would marry him. Of course I said yes! We took a selfie photo so we would never forget that location. We have hiked back to that exact same location on that exact same rock every year since that day.
I said "I'm pregnant" and he said "I guess we should get married"
Ha! My husband was drunk the first time he proposed to me over the phone. He called me the next day and asked what he had done. That was 30 years ago!
It was an ordinary day where he took me to dinner and just poped the question.
It was right before my fiance's birthday, right before the SuperBowl. I knew something was up. We were in his apt when he got down on one knee, ... this was close to 30 years ago.
I proposed in my apartment but it was very thoughtful and I created a speech to profess my love to my now wife.
Three was no real proposal. It was just something we had discussed numerous times, and eventually we decided to buy rings and apply for a license one day on a whim.
my friend was involved. she distracted me outside shopping while he set up candles on the stairs. It was not very extravagent.
My husband is not romantic at all. We designed a ring together. We picked it up and brought it home and the excitement got the better of him and he proposed in the kitchen. Nothing exciting or fancy and I must really love this man because that was the worst proposal ever. I give home heartburn over it every time I see beautiful proposals on TV. I told him he better do it over on one of our anniversaries (we’ve been married 16 years this year).
We were at a restaurant having dinner with friends on Christmas eve. The jeweler came to the restaurant to drop off the ring, then my now husband proposed earlier than anticipated because he was so excited.
We had been together for 7 years, and had moved in together prior to it. We stayed together against all odds, and despite many of her acquaintences doubting our relationship.
My now-husband proposed to me in the elevator in our apartment building while we were riding up to our apartment after a long trip. Not very romantic, and he didn't have a ring or even get down on one knee. He did take me to the jewelry store the next weekend, though, and I got to choose an engagement ring that I really liked. He's still not very romantic...
ask the gf, to marry me one day on Christmas eve. I did nothing special didnt have a ring..
She knew I was going to propose, but we went out to a favorite spot by the lake where I got the ring and some flowers, and then we hammocked.
My proposal story was not what I imagined originally. I was only a few months pregnant and my boyfriend took me outside to the back of our property under a pretty spot of trees. He held my hand and was shaky. I had a feeling he was going to propose although I felt it may have been a bit rushed due to his parents religious urgency. I did say yes and we eventually went to the courthouse for official papers and then married at a lovely golf club course.
I took my wife out to eat in front of a waterfall. I waited for the room to fill and proposed in front of strangers
My husband proposed to me in an airport parking lot after we hadn't seen each other in months. It was perfect
I had been dating my husband for 6 years and we had a 5 year child. I needed wisdom tooth surgery. I was in a lot of pain and it was very expensive and I had no dental insurance. He, on the other hand, had VERY good health, dental and vision insurance. He said do you want to get married and I can put you on my insurance? I said sure. We went to the courthouse, got married, and I got my surgery! we've been together for 11 years now. Not too romantic, but we're happy.
We had been dating for maybe 3 years. We were high school sweethearts, and were then in college. We knew we wanted to get married. He proposed on the beach at night, the place we had our first kiss. We had gone to dinner before that. Of course I said yes.
My husband put a sign by our dog that said, "Will you be my mommy forever?" The ring box was by the dog. It was very cute and he did run it past all my sisters first to see if it was a good enough proposal idea. It would have been more romantic if he was a little more secretive that day. I could tell he was up to something. :)
I was proposed to on a message board in our town. he tried. i give him credit for that.
Our was blind date and when we meet each other we really thanks to god and he propose me
Had been dating for years. Planned to propose on her birthday at a nice dinner. As I went into my home office to get the ring from where I hid it, something fell so she ran up the steps to see if I was ok. I had to fumble around since I couldn’t hide it and proposed outside of the bathroom and office of our old apartment. She actually never said yes, but we have been married 16 years and together for 20.
It wasn't much of a proposal. We just talked about getting married (it was more me) and decided we would get married. Not really much of a proposal.
My future wife and I fell in love at first sight. When I graduated college 6 months later, I moved to her city, we bought rings and I proposed to her while she was sitting on the couch in her parent's house two days later. It's not some flowery romantic story but it's the most important thing I have ever done in my life. We never looked back from the second we met and we celebrate our 30th anniversary this year stronger than ever.
My boyfriend and I were hiking up South Sister, a mountain in Central Oregon. It was a spontaneous trip, and at the summit he surprised me by proposing. I actually thought he was joking and told him to stop, but obviously now, it wasn't a joke.
I set up a scavenger hunt based on past experiences we shared together, taking it step by step through our time dating, and ended with a proposal and champagne
It was my wifes birthday and we were heading to Disneyland. It's her favorite place to go. We were going through the metal detectors and my heart WAS RACING. For some reason, the staff let my go around the detectors, maybe it was pure luck but it woud have spoiled the suprised. We got into disneyland and close to the entrance, Chip and Dale characters were doing pictures. I told her lets get some pictures and she agreed. When it was our turn, I asked the lady to hold the phone and she said yes. I whispered to her " it's on video and I'm gong to propose" This made the lady nervous but she said she wanted to do this perfect. Chip and Dale got next to us and I turned to my wife (then girlfriend) and I explained to her that a couple weeks ago I had come over to her parents house while she was gone to a Maroon 5 concert. I had asked her parents for her hand in marriage and they said yes. I remember her mom saying "Welcome to our family". Anyways as I explained everything to my wife, she looked confused and then I got down on one knee and my wife burst into tears. Everyone else gasped in surprise. My wife said Yes! I then kissed her and put the ring on her finger. Chip and Dale then rushed over to us and gave us hugs and we took another picture. I told the woman thank you for recording one of those most memorable days of my life.
I attempted to take her back to the restaurant of our first date several years before, but unknowingly it was extremely crowded and overly loud so that any sort of proposal was out of the question. So waiting until after dinner, I decided to take her outside since it was a nice night and the ambience outside the restaurant was pleasant, but moments after we exited someone's car alarm started going off nearby. So in a third attempt, I suggested we walk down a block where it was quieter to a courtyard for a Greek Orthodox church that was lit up in the evening by lines of bulb lights (similar to Christmas lights). Considering the several setbacks, it had thrown me off so the overall proposal was not as heartfelt as I would have licked, but she still said yes when I got on one knee and asked her.
It wasn't even really a proposal. After a few months of dating we both thought we should We were young and in love and we wanted to commit to each other. We've been married for more than ten years now and I love her more and better than I did before.
We always went to a frozen drink company on the Riverwalk in San Antonio Texas and he proposed to me at that same location a few years later. So romantic.
I took her for a walk along the beach in Cape Cod around sunset. I stopped walking next to her and when she turned around I was on one knee. I then gave a medium length speech that didn't come out quite as rehearsed due to my overwhelming nerves. She was so happy and said yes immediately.
My marriage proposal was in his apartment. I had just graduated from pharmacy school, and I had just driven five hours to spend the weekend with him. He came down to help carry my luggage up to his apartment. As we walk in, I see a cheese board (something we always enjoy during big moments). I thought it was a celebration for graduating. However, when I turned around, he was on his knee. The rest is history :)
We went on a hike to a waterfall and he surprised me by wearing a button up and dress pants under his hiking clothes to propose at the bottom of the waterfall.
I KNEW IT WAS COMING. WE'D PICKED OUT THE RING TOGETHER. WE WENT TO A BED AND BREAKFAST AND HE PROPOSED WHILE WE WERE IN THE JACUZZI. WHAT'S KINDA FUNNY IS THAT THE JACUZZI WAS SO HOT AND IT MADE HIM HOT AND LIGHTHEADED. SO AFTER HE PROPOSED WE HAD TO GET OUT OF THE TUB AND HE HAD TO LAY ON THE BED WITH FANS BLOWING ON HIM TO COOL DOWN. HE THEN THREW UP A FEW TIMES AND WE WERE AFRAID WE MAY NEED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. BUT EVENTUALLY HE FELT BETTER AND WE WERE ABLE TO GO TO SLEEP. NOT EVERY ROMANTIC BUT IT'S WHAT HAPPENED!
My marriage proposal may seem the least romantic to someone else but is the most romantic to me! My husband and I met, fell in love rather quickly and moved in together 4 months later. We had discussed marriage before moving in together and my boyfriend (before he became my husband) knew I took relationships seriously and that if I moved in with him I would be expecting a future committment. He said he felt the same way. Time moves quickly when you're happy and the years started rolling by. After the first year I expected a proposal but none came. I expected a proposal the second year, none came. Hoped for proposal the third year, none came. Really wanted a proposal the fourth year, none came. Finally, feeling frustrated, I asked my boyfriend "Why haven't you asked me to marry you"? He replied " I don't know, I guess because it is like we are already married". And I replied "Oh no, I do not feel that way at all. If you don't make up your mind I am leaving". He looked so shocked and I blurted out "So, are you going to marry me already"? He suddenly laughed, twirled me up in the air and said "Yeah! How about today"! We were married that night (Arizona doesn't have a waiting period)! We wore the clothes we met in and it was wonderful!!
At the time I was working in a retail store and my then boyfriend had the day off. He called me and asked me to take my break. He met me outside to show me his purchases he made at the mall. He showed me the ring, and said are you going to keep talking bs now? Is that a yes? The whole entire time I was speechless and mad because he was laughing and did not bother to get on a knee and propose like a normal person. But he proposed in his normal way, completely nonchalant
My now wife and I had been friends for many years so there wasn't a lot of need for the extra "baloney" that goes with some romances. We knew each other, we knew we wanted to be together, so I simply asked her to marry me while we were on a date. She accepted and we are still together 24 years later. :)
It was New Year's Eve and we were in the city of Chicago. We were staying at my boyfriend's brother's apartment and were going to spend the night out with him and his friends. My boyfriend's brother is gay so his New Year's Eve plans included going to a gay bar. We were at the gay bar and at midnight the bartender put a bottle of champagne in front of us and that is when my boyfriend got down on his knee as asked me to marry him...in a gay bar. I said yes!
My husband got so excited that he jumped the gun on our wedding proposal. I was in the middle of paying bills when he popped the questions. We’re really not big romantics.
Got down on one knee with ring in hand in my kitchen and ask me to marry him.
I surprised my wife on her favorite day of the year (11-11) by getting her a box of her favorite treats and candies, and writing her a card, and in the box was an engagement box so she was able to find it and I propsoed.
I proposed to her in a public park on a small bridge over a stream. This is a park where we walked together many times and had some of our best conversations on getting to know each other better. Its where I learned about her and she learned about me from discussions on love, family and future plans. Its where I fell in love with her.
Not very romantic at all. No getting down on one knee or anything like that. It was more like a conversation and saying we should get married.
It was simple, yet memorable, he took me back to our special place where it is a big beautiful garden. He took me to the very middle of that garden and he got down on one knees and proposed.
While I don't want to be too negative about my own proposal story, It was done in pieces and hard to say how romantic it was. The first part was us just talking and knowing that getting married was something we were going to do. The more "official" version came a little later when we were ring shopping with my family. We picked the rings out at a story and then I officially proposed in front of a fountain. It made people around us cry, but there wasn't really any surprise to it.
My husband cooked a nice meal at home and had our dog wear a bowtie and surprise me with the ring. I had just gotten home from a long day taking care of a sick family member so it was very special to come home to.
He brought be a dozen roses and in each rose was a piece of paper with the reason he loved me. Then he pulled out a single rose with the ring inside of it attached to a paper that said asked me to marry him.
My now husband and I had been together for 2 years when he proposed, we were in my parent's house where I lived with my parents and baby brother. As we watched TV in my bedroom, he took out the ring and proposed, I was happy. My little brother was there and he was being a pain, he was crying and was just fussy. My mom was washing dishes in the kitchen while my dad watched his TV.Not the ideal setting and not romantic, but it is our story and we laugh when we think about it.
My husband took me out on a boat in front of Cinderella's castle at Disney World and proposed during the fireworks display.
He did it at a lighthouse in Michigan as the sun was setting. (We live in IL and we were in MI for a weekend).
My husband and I were pretty young to get married by today's standards..both of us 22 and just out of college. We were in my parents living room, and kissing, and he asked me. He said " all I have to offer you is my name..will you.....?". I wasn t sure what he meant at first, but I said yes. Not super romantic, I guess, but it got the job done!
We had taken an out of town trip for the anniversary of our first date. He proposed in the hotel room in the bed the morning of that anniversary.
My Marriage proposal consisted of picking out my own ring - and my husband handing me the box, i said, “well” and he said well do you want to or not? Still together 35 years later but I wish he would have put more effort into it.
My husband proposed to me on Christmas day, 1992. We had been dating for 14 years (not living together). He handed me the ring box and said, "This is long overdue." hehe. Perhaps not the most romantic by today's standards, but we've been happily married since 1993. We met when I was 15 and he was 19, and I've always felt like I knew it the moment I met him we would be together forever. I'm glad I didn't have the high pressure, public proposals that some have today...it was private, on my favorite day of the year (Christmas), and with the right person.
The way we met was actually more romantic than the proposal, but here goes. My girlfriend was thinking about opening a music studio, in order to give piano lessons fulltime. (She had done this in the past.) I took the plunge and ordered a grand piano -- with her knowledge, of course -- and it was delivered to our home. On the day it was delivered, she was thrilled. I got home from work, we sat on the piano bench, and I popped the question. That was 21 years ago.
My husband proposed on Halloween night at a haunted house.
My marriage proposal was not very romantic or original but it was humorous because I had put the engagement ring in a glass of champagne and my future wife didn't see it and would have choked if I hadn't stopped her, which spoiled the surprise.
That night, I was lying in bed, holding a heating pad to my midsection because I was having extremely painful esophageal spasms. He came up and sat on the bed to talk to me about work for a bit. And then he said, "Let's get married." Not a question, just a statement. I asked, "What?". And he repeated himself with the statement. I didn't say anything for a bit and he asked, "Well?". I said, "Well, what?". He asked, "What's your answer?". I told him he hadn't asked a question. All of this is coming between me essentially having the breath knocked out of me by the spasms. Eventually, he rephrased and I said yes and then we picked out a ring later. But yeah, not the best timing or very romantic.
My husband proposed to me on a random Tuesday night - just because he couldn't wait any longer.
i proposed to my wife on a train in the observation car at midnight.
